Life is too short to not enjoy it. Our family was reminded of that this past week when one of my mother-in-law’s brothers suddenly died of a heart attack. The family has been mourning his passing and figuring out how to move forward from here. In times like these, I am always humbled…and reminded of the many blessings that I take for granted on a regular basis. Sad, but true. None of us – no matter our health, wealth, age or status – are promised tomorrow and I don’t want to be caught not living my life the way it’s meant to be lived. I want to enjoy every single second that I have with the people in my life and create happy memories that we can all look back on one day and say with a smile “Those were the days, right?”. I think that it’s important to have a lot of pictures to help jog those memories, and remember how your family looked through the different stages of life.
We took to the streets for some fun family shots, and here are just a few. My brother-in-law, Jon, landed himself a crash photography course from me. He didn’t even see this coming. Um…he didn’t seem to mind me bossing him around too much “You’ll need to pick up your shutter speed here…” – “Zoom in a bit and just get the top half of my face with the balloons…” – “Could ya run across this busy intersection and take about 200 shots of us doing this?” – “Let me see what you’ve got, because I think it might be too shadowy” – “Keep it balanced-” – “Make sure your focus is nailed”….See? He did a great job! If he wanted to go into photography, then I know he could do this because he really showed some talent here. I love some of these so much that I am going to get them enlarged and printed up on canvas for our home!
Have a great weekend, okay? Go out and do something fun with the family and have someone take pics to record it. <3

These are lovely! Your family is so cute. I like the shot of all of your feet! Can I ask you something random? I was wondering – do you and your girls always wear skirts? I know there are sects of Christianity that follow that tradition. I think that’s cool (not something my church family enforces) – I am just curious!
Great blog entry; thanks for the reminder to live life to the fullest!

Thanks, Christina! And yeah – me and the girls can typically be found in skirts through any occasion. However, it didn’t used to be that way. Also – it’s not necessarily “enforced”; we just our choice because we love to be girly and have those cute flouncy skirts on – or the long ‘n feminine ones. I have to stop myself from having too many in my closet! [Eekers...]
I’m sorry for your families loss! They will be in my prayers.
On a brighter note, I LURVE those pics! Your cousin did fantastic! Then again he had great direction.
Seriously…love them.

Thank you for the prayers, too!
Beautiful pics!! I love the feet pic and the last one. The effect you used gives it a nice vintagy-feel, especially with the balloons
